Lou Dobbs Gushes Over Senator Cornyn

Last week Lou Dobbs had a very good show about H-1B. At issue is the new bill by Senator Cornyn to raise the H-1B cap.

Dobbs asked Bill Tucker an excellent question and Tucker fired off with the perfect answer: H-1B visas go mainly to low skilled entry level jobs!

It was a great report, except that Dobbs blew it right towards the end by showing undue respect for Cornyn.

DOBBS: This is, to me, shocking. Senator Cornyn, in most other respects, has demonstrated himself to be an able senator, man of integrity, and a well-informed senator. There is no possible explanation that this sponsorship is anything more than a reflexive, acquiescence to the demands of corporate lobbyists, putting intense pressure on Lieberman and Cornyn and all the other senators involved. This isn’t the first time Dobbs has coddled Cornyn. Every time Cornyn is on the show Dobbs gushes all over him. This is just one example:

[quote]“I will tell you straightforward. I think the Kyl-Cornyn legislation, if Senator Cornyn were here I would call it the Cornyn- Kyl legislation, I think a reasonable, intelligent basis to proceed.â€

Yep, and I don't believe Cornyn supports the border fence either. Both Texas Senators are definitely not on my "good Senator" list.

all i can say is Dobbs has been acting strange lately . Even Casey Wien looks at him sometimes with a "What ?" look

Contact Lou Dobbs and tell him how you feel. I think he will listen to his viewers if there are enough of them saying the same thing.

that may be a good idea . I often write him with concerns , issues . Never thought of a good old "What ya doing ?" letter

Sen. Cornyn is a founder of the "India Caucus" in the Senate. India has been a primary "player" in the H-1B Visas racket, especially in securing visas for their citizens to come to this country to be trained and then "outsourced" back to India. Indians now comprise the second-largest group of illegal aliens in southen Texas after Mexicans. Evidentally when Sen. Cornyn visits India, he is "treated like royalty".

All the better reason to be well-informed and polite when addressing him ourselves! He is a former Texas Supreme Court Justice, very intelligent --a tenacious ally or foe, depending on the position he takes. While I certainly wish he were on our side more often, I have come to admire his independence in making up his own mind - he seems impossible to "pigeonhole", and he does listen to his constituents. For example, while he did co-sponsor the Kyl-Cornyn CIR bill, he also fought Sen. Kennedy to the end to defeat his "total amnesty" version of the legislation. I found his office staff very willing to listen to arguements against passing that legislation as long as they were based on facts and presented in a logical and civil manner.
