More on Mexicans Going to Canada

It is nice to see that they are afraid but it is also frightening how long some of them have lived and worked here illegally.

Illegal Immigrants Chase False Hope to Canada

By MONICA DAVEY and ABBY GOODNOUGH
    Published: September 21, 2007
WINDSOR, Ontario, Sept. 20 — Fleeing stepped-up sweeps by the American authorities, illegal immigrants to the United States, mostly Mexican, are arriving in growing numbers at the foot of the bridge in this Canadian border town seeking refugee status.

Still more immigrants, mostly Mexicans living illegally in Florida, have begun trying to make their way past America’s northern border at other locations, the majority of them flying into the airport in Toronto, Canadian officials said Thursday.

The arrivals here began suddenly three weeks ago, just a family or two at first, fueled by the notion — largely unfounded, the authorities here say — that Canada would grant them asylum.

The journey, some of the immigrants said, was first suggested by an organization in Naples, Fla., which charged a fee for assisting with the paperwork. Now the idea has spread on the Internet and through social networks.

By Thursday, at least 200 people had turned up here, across the border from Detroit, with as much of their lives as they could shove into suitcases, boxes and garbage bags in their cars. Thousands more, refugee advocates and Canadian officials say, may be on their way.

Advocates for immigrants issued urgent warnings to Mexicans pondering similar journeys, and expressed fury at groups that were encouraging them. In truth, refugee status for Mexican citizens is relatively unusual in Canada. Only 28 percent of such claims by Mexicans were approved in Canada last year, compared with 47 percent of claims from all nationalities.

“It’s an outrage that money is being taken to provide false information and dangerous information to these people,â€

Canada needs to send them to Mexico where they belong. It is there home country and they need to defend there own country and fight for what is theres. Right now Mexico is a corupt government looking for an answer to their 3 world problems. There is no reason why Mexico rich in oil, costal cities, access to the ocean, rich in tourism should be the way it is. All Bush is doing is letting Mexico not pull itself out of its own rutt. We as American Citizens and Canada and their Canadian Citizens do not owe Mexico a damn thing. Make Mexico and their citizens come to the party or rott in poverty.

if Canada is as stupid as we... were..... then i think our government needs to set up an assistance program so we can mass produce asylum papers for all 43 million illegals... if several hundred of these leaches is draining Canadas social services they need to wait, they haven't seen anything yet!

Canada is saying there is no preferred programs for Mexico. I posted another article from a Canadian paper where immigration people were trying to stop the invasion. I went on the Canadian immigration website and found the following:

    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department ... border.asp

People in the United States who wish to claim refugee status at the Canadian border
It has come to our attention that there are private individuals and organizations in the United States who are targeting certain foreign nationals and providing false or misleading information on how to claim refugee status in Canada.

This includes advertising of “special programsâ€

Carina Gonzalez, who drove her red Suburban from Naples a few weeks ago, said she had lived in the United States for 10 years. When she reached a customs agent as she crossed into Canada, she recalled, she felt deeply nervous but also relieved.
What is it with these people and the dang Suburbans and Excursions- the HUGE very expensive vehicles and of course they pimp them out 100%?
And she could afford this working at a grocery store? I guess one can afford a lot of things while being supported by the American tax-payer.

Yes- GO, GO, GO Please GO to Canada! And don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out! Then let's SEAL the Northern border, too so you can't get back in again! Like the devil said to the preist in the original Exorsist movie-- "G-E-T O-U-T!"

First they came here and were unsuccessful and no the same will happen in Canada. The majority of them will be depoted. It is harder to be illegal in the province of Ontario that it is here. Once they leave any gains they made will be lost in most cases and they will end up where they started from. This may discourage others from coming here as well.
