Gingrich recognizes impact of working force in the US

Gingrich recognizes impact of working force in the US
    NOTIMEX

Washington,U.S., August 22, 2005 (Notimex).- US congress former republican leader, Newt Gingrich, considered as fantasizing those who consider that the working force, represented by 11 million undocumented people in the US, may be replaced if they were deported.

"The idea that despite the financial differences between the US and Latin America may make possible to replace 11 million undocumented people without the need of a temporary workers program, is a fantasy", Gingrich considered.

He said that the solution for the problem that undocumented immigration represents lies in measures, that in addition to border control, include more severe laws against those who hire undocumented people, and these workers' reordering.

In this sense, the former Georgia legislator pointed out for the creation of a host workers program as the answer to correct this issue, something that president George W. Bush and many congressmen share.

In Gingrich's opinion, having a program like this would not only be useful to order undocumented immigration, but would also contribute to the purpose of having a better control in the borders, something he considered as critical at this time.

"In order to have absolute control of the border, there has to be a temporary workers program, and I will argue with someone from the right wing about it", Gingrich said in an appearance at the National Media Club.

"We have to face this, and we have to win this argument", he said, who proposed that the program is accompanied by strong administration to have an effective control.

Among them he included the issuing of an ID card, that the interested gives his finger prints, scan his eye's iris, and sign a form making a compromise on respecting the law and paying taxes.

"On the contrary, then we would deport them in 48 hours. We should have each people in a computerized information bank", he said.

Gingrich also said that those who want to join the program would have to leave the country, and make the procedure from abroad, since in other way the message sent for the rest of the people would be negative.

"The message for their cousins that have been waiting in their countries for three years for a passport to get in the US is that those people are stupid", he stated.

Gingrich also said he agrees in the fact that any measure may have an amnesty for considering it as "disturbing" to forgive and give a prize for someone that has gone over the law.

"The other thing that should be done is punish hard those companies that hire undocumented people, because the present government's dirty secret is that we have 11 million people being hired despite being against the law", he stated. NTX

Ideally I would prefer no guest worker program. However, if we had to have one, I agree that they must leave the country and apply from the country where they are citizens. I would say that they we would need to have people in those countries to ensure that they are not "pretending" to apply from their home country, while there sitting in Cinncinati, or Nashville. or Atlanta, or Jacksonville or Norfolk. They could easily be right here and have relatives mail forms from their country to the U.S. as if they were not here.

They should have to report personally to American officials in their home country. THEN we will have to make sure that that part of the deal doesn't become "crooked".

I think IF Americans go for any guest worker program it is going to have to be strictly monitored, or the American people are going to lose all faith in our government officials. NO more scams on the American people.
    We've had it.

So is what eye of newt is saying, any new immigration reform bills should contain strong employer sanctions for hiring illegals? What about 1986, they said the EXACT same thing. How about if we make the sponsors of any "new" immigration reform bill, criminally and civilly liable for any lack of enforcement of the employer sanctions! You don't go after them YOU go to jail.

P.S. DON'T ASK THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS TO PAY FOR THEIR TRANSPORTATION, EITHER

Don't try to sneak a bunch of illegal Bush benefits into this program.

Just deduct the cost from foreign aid to Mexico. Oh thats right we can't do that, since every President since the Oil Embargo in 1974 failed to do anything about some kind of alternate fuel, we are hostage to the Oil producers like Mexico.
