WASHINGTON – Mexico recorded its deadliest year yet of drug-related killings in 2007, and the violence is expected to increase if an initial $500 million U.S. aid package to Mexico is approved by Congress in 2008, U.S. and Mexican officials and analysts say.

There is NO winning the war on drugs!! It's like prohibition. legalization takes the mafia and druglords out of the equation. We must do something and RP has the answer. People don't understand that legalizing drugs would make this nation much safer..... I know it's an odd way to get to what we need but read Ron Paul on the issue, he's a doctor he knows about drugs and drug abuses. Take the money out of the equation and use the War on Drugs money to fight addiction. We don't even try in our jails and such, because there is no money too. It's wasted instead, by fighting an unwinable war. Sometimes you fight fire with water and not fire......

There's alot of truth in this. For the sake of argument, let's say all drugs were legalized and taxed. You've effectively reduced the huge profits of the drug cartels. Would it cause more people to take the drugs? Not necessarily. Many people take drugs for the thrill of doing something illegal, take that away and where's the thrill?

    Drugs!

This article just shows to me they do not want to do anything about stopping the flow of drugs.Sheriff Arpaio could stop it given the chance .My guess is nobody wants it stopped for there is big money involved.

Liberal attitudes end up with problems like they are having in Calif. if you want drugs made legal , just do not be surprised if this country becomes a carbon copy of a 3rd world one,

Legalize drugs! Brilliant idea. I am all for it, and while we are at it let's legalize prostitution, too. The state already has the monopoly on gambling and alcohol. By adding drugs and sex the state will have the monopoly on all vice!!!! No problem finding the crime lords either. They'll all be at the state capitol, and every election cycle you can vote for the Godfather of your choice.

I knew people would not understand this. I watched a special on PBS 5 years ago, 16 hours of WHY we should legalize drugs. They convinced me. I could not believe the people who were for it, people I respect, big names.
I too thought it was a stupid idea. If you look into it it makes sense. It's not going to make people that wouldn't do drugs, go out and do them! It just takes the money out of the equation, thus the criminal element. We'd be better off spending that money on helping addicts. There is no "winning" the war on drugs........
    Why do I try...............?

This is what is called brainwashing and big money is behind it.I hope you do not see a 16 hour special on the CFR with big names like the Rockefellers. Look at Anna Nicole Smith and her son and where the drug trail ended for them.

We're already well on the way to becoming a carbon copy of a 3rd world country, and that's with illegal drugs and illegal aliens.

Prostitution is already legal in certain Nevada towns, and the US government is the PIMP. Need I say more?
