A beef between an MS-13 member and a rival gangster sparked Sunday’s caught-on-video fatal shooting on a Queens subway platform, police said Monday.

The notorious MS-13 gang has wreaked havoc on Long Island, but it also has made moves into Queens “over the last year or two,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea on Monday.

Sunday’s broad-daylight gunplay, which left 20-year-old Abel Mosso dead, began with shouting about the gang on a No. 7 train, Shea said.

“Someone was yelling something about MS-13,” Shea said during a press conference at police headquarters, adding that the “victim was affiliated with the 18th Street Gang.”

Cops took the 26-year-old suspected shooter into custody Monday, authorities said.

“He is in our criminal group database as an MS-13 member,” Shea said.

The shooting was “definitely gang-related,” the top cop added, although he noted that while two gang members were involved, it is not clear whether they were fighting over gang matters or something else.

The scuffle spilled out of the train at the 90th Street station in Queens, with three people wrestling on the platform until one emerged from the scrum with a handgun. Six shots were fired as Mosso collapsed to the ground, according to video of the incident shared to social media.

Abel Mosso “was shot multiple times in the face, causing his demise,” Shea said.

No gun or bullet casings were recovered — suggesting the weapon may have been a revolver, which does not eject spent shells, he said.

Of MS-13’s presence in the borough, Shea said, “They’re suspected in a few troubling incidents in Queens.”

“As recently as a couple of months ago, we had the incident in the Rockaways,” he said, referring to a group of four gangbangers on the Queens-Nassau County border who lured a 23-year-old man to his death with promises of sex with an underage girl.

The MS-13 gangbanger suspected in a caught-on-video subway slaying has at least nine prior arrests — and was out on $2,500 bail for allegedly plotting a burglary, police sources said Tuesday.

Ramiro Gutierrez conspired last year to burglarize a Richmond Hill home when he gunned down rival gang member Abel Mosso, 20, on a 7 train platform in Queens on Sunday, sources and authorities say.

The 26-year-old suspect has been collared at least nine previous times, including for drug possession and possession of stolen property, sources said, adding that five of his arrests are sealed.

Under instructions from two other accused conspirators, Gutierrez planned to break into the Richmond Hill home on 118th Street in February 2018, according to an indictment. He was arrested Dec. 11, and by Dec. 13, he had pleaded not guilty and posted bail, records show.

He allegedly shot Mosso in the face Sunday after a scuffle over a gun that spilled out from a 7 train onto the platform at 90th Street in what police have called a “gang-related” incident.

Vandals scrawled “MS13” outside a Queens pol’s office — on the same weekend a member of the ruthless gang shot dead a rival on a subway platform, it was revealed Monday.City Councilman Francisco Moya shared photos of the graffiti and said it appeared some time over the weekend.

“Gang activity is not going to be tolerated here. The people of this community will not be made to feel afraid in the streets they walk, on the trains they take or in the homes where they live,” he raged in a statement.

“If intimidation is MS-13’s goal when its members resort to gun violence — as is reportedly the case in Sunday’s fatal shooting of a man on the 90th Street stop on the 7 train — or when they spray paint gang graffiti in our neighborhoods — as they did on my district office this weekend — they will fail in those endeavors. We are stronger than any senseless display of force.”

The tag was written in black letters about 3 feet in height, photos show.

On Sunday, 20-year-old Abel Mosso was gunned down on the No. 7 train platform at 90th Street — also in Moya’s district — following a scuffle with another man.

Mosso had ties to the 18th Street Gang, and a suspect in custody is a known MS-13 member, officials have said. NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said the incident was “definitely gang-related” during a press conference Monday.

NYPD tried to hide MS-13 gangster accused of subway slaying

He’s an MS-13 gangster and illegal immigrant accused of murdering a rival on a subway platform— but you wouldn’t even recognize him on the street if the NYPD had its way.

Cops bent over backward Tuesday to shield alleged killer Ramiro Gutierrez from public scrutiny after his arrest for Sunday’s broad-daylight slaying in Queens — going so far as to feed reporters bogus information about his whereabouts and claim ignorance on his illegal status hours before President Trump’s State of the Union Addressrenewing his request for a border wall.

Gutierrez, 26, has been in custody since Monday for the execution-style killing of Abel Mosso, 20, in front of horrified straphangers.

But cops waited until 4 a.m. Tuesday to announce that he had been formally charged.

Then they called reporters Tuesday afternoon to say that he would be walked out of the 115th Precinct station house at 4 p.m. — only to sneak him out a back door by 2 p.m. en route to a courthouse in Queens.

It would have been the public’s first chance to get a good look at the accused killer — had The Post not already put him on the front page Tuesday thanks to law enforcement sources.

Gutierrez shot Mosso “multiple times in the face” following a scuffle over a gun that spilled from a No. 7 train onto the 90th Street station platform in a “gang-related” incident, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.

He had at least nine previous arrests that included four felonies.

Police claimed that they suddenly sped up the transfer of the suspect from the precinct to court at the behest of Queens DA Richard Brown’s office. The move was made after Gutierrez lawyered up and a DA employee said to haul him in, a police source said.

But two DA sources told The Post that they were unaware of any such request from their office.

The NYPD ignored questions about why it appeared to be protecting Gutierrez.

“What is this nonsense?” an NYPD spokesman said to The Post when asked about the issue.

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office said it was all the NYPD’s call and declined to say whether the department made the right decision in shielding Gutierrez.

“We weren’t involved in the mechanics of the defendant’s transfer, and we don’t have any comment on it,” City Hall spokesman Eric Phillips said.

Police wouldn’t even say Tuesday whether Gutierrez is in the country legally.

“I do not have any information regarding immigration status — it’s not something we collect,” Shea said of immigration-status data during an unrelated press conference Tuesday.

US Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials confirmed Gutierrez is “illegally present” in the US.

“He entered without inspection at an unknown date and time. A detainer was placed on him today,” an ICE official told The Post.

Gutierrez’s NYPD rap sheet goes back to at least 2010, when he received a summons for disorderly conduct, according to sources.

He’s been collared on at least nine misdemeanors and four felonies, including for drug possession, sources said, noting that five of his arrests are sealed.
Gutierrez was out on $2,500 bail for felony conspiracy charges when he allegedly killed Mosso.

He was arrested last Dec. 11, and by Dec. 13 he had pleaded “not guilty” and posted bail, records show.

The arrest put him on ICE’s radar, but the agency was not aware he was in the US illegally until Tuesday, agency officials said.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders seized on Mosso’s killing to make the case for tighter border security.

“These things should not be happening,’’ she said Tuesday on CNN.

“We know that the crime and the drugs and those things drastically stop if you have real border security, and that includes a wall.’’
