    My Response From NY City Mayor Bloomberg

    I received this response today from Mayor Bloomberg.


    Dear Friend:

    Thank you for your letter concerning immigration, which has always played a critical role in strengthening our City’s – and our nation’s – social and economic life. People of good will can disagree on the best way to address the problem of illegal immigration, but I hope we can all recognize that there are no easy answers – they have been tried, and they have failed. In a post-9/11 world, we must do better.

    To ensure our national security and keep our economy growing, I believe it is essential that Congress take a comprehensive approach to immigration reform. This means not only increasing border security, an important but insufficient step, but also reducing the incentive to come here illegally. To do that, we must begin holding businesses accountable for checking the immigration status of their job applicants, and we must increase the number of visas we give to overseas workers. I believe that this practical approach, and the recognition that immigrants have always played a vital role in our economy, will help keep our City and our nation strong.

    While we may not agree on how best to address these challenges, please know that your concerns are important to me, and I appreciate that you have taken the time to share them.

    Same 'canned' message. I told him I will not be visiting any time soon - due solely to his comments about illegals and their [supposed] importance to the NYC economy. Blah!!!

    Got my response as well, gee you think he reads his email every 2 months? Same crap different day. That man is a detriment to NYC then throw in Hillary and NY is going to the illegals.

    I got the same one!

    I asked him about support documents for the comment he made in one of the first house hearings. He said something about devastating the economy if we kicked the illegals out. Chicken sent me a form letter!

    Essentially, he said that the Big Apple is rotten to the core. So rotten, in fact, that if we ever began seriously enforcing our immigration laws, the city that claims to be America’s greatest would collapse and die.
    I didn't find the exact quote but this one was better.
