    Candidate wants local support to keep illegal immigrants out of community colleges

    BURGAW – Seeking support at the local level, District 8 state Senate hopeful Betty Fennell has asked the Pender County commissioners to support a resolution that would oppose illegal immigrants’ admittance into community college.

    Fennell, who is a Republican, said the issue was an economic one, not a partisan issue.

    “Columbus County ,which is either all Democrat or mostly Democrat, passed it and Brunswick County, which is mostly Republican passed it,â€

    Commissioner Norwood Blanchard said they could either train them or put them on the streets where they would most likely end up in jail.
    OR they could be reported to ICE and sent back to their home country!
