    CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An infant listed in critical condition Sunday morning at the Levine's Children's Hospital passed away shortly before 5 p.m.

    The suspect Juan Vega, 23, is now charged with murder. Police say when the 6-month-old was brought into the hospital, staff there realized the injuries appeared to be from abuse.

    Vega is the boyfriend of the child's mother, but he is not the child's father.

    Homicide detectives and investigators with the special victims unit are working the case. News Channel 36 has learned that ICE is also involved in that investigation.

    now seriously. i hope that if he did it, he is thrown behind bars and wonder if North Carolina has the death penalty for scumbags like this

    Yep, we have the death penalty but it takes premeditation to be sentenced to it.
