    Woman won't get jail in alleged DMV license bribery case

    BRENTWOOD — A Manchester woman described as a bit player in a Department of Motor Vehicles bribery case walked out of court dodging a county jail sentence on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a reduced charge.

    Adelina Cardona — sister of the alleged mastermind in the bribery scheme — pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unsworn falsification as part of a negotiated deal with prosecutors.

    The state wanted her to serve 30 days in jail, but Judge Kenneth McHugh said her lack of a criminal record made the request for jail time unusual.

    “Probation does not seem a wise idea. I don't see any reason for confining her, but she should feel the pinch,â€
