Newark - Three men – including a man believed to be an MS-13 gang member – were arrested during a motor-vehicle stop in the city’s East Ward Tuesday night, state police said.

The men were pulled over in a Hyundai Elantra at 6:30 p.m. by state troopers in the Street Gang Unit, said Trooper Jeff Flynn.

Eight ounces of raw and uncut heroin were found in the car, Flynn said. That amount would be worth $21,000 on the street – or could be separated into 11,000 individual dosage units, the trooper added.

Alejandro Argueta-Panchane, a 34-year-old living in Elizabeth, was the man identified by authorities as the member of MS-13, Flynn said. He was also wanted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for illegal entry into the country, Flynn added.

German Bados, a 42-year-old Elizabeth man, and Jose Casado, 53, of Newark, were the other two men in the car, which was registered to Bados, state police added.

All three were charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and conspiracy, Flynn said. Bail for each was set at $100,000, full cash. They were taken to the Essex County Jail. ICE was also notified of Argueta-Panchane’s arrest, authorities added.
