ARTESIA, N.M. (AP) - Republican Congressman Steve Pearce says he has serious reservations about the comprehensive immigrant reform endorsed by President Bush.
Pearce was in Artesia Tuesday when the president toured the Border Patrol training facility there and spoke about immigration.
Pearce is urging the president and Congress to consider another option. He says Congress could pass such measures as new Border Patrol agents, detention facilities for illegal immigrants and new surveillance technology immediately.
The southern New Mexico Congressman says that if Congress waits to resolve differences on other immigration issues, another year could go by without anything being done."When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
