Alien pleads guilty to illegally reentering US

ALBANY – A citizen of Mexico, who lives in Kingston, NY, Wednesday pled guilty in US District Court in Albany to the felony offense of reentry by a previously removed alien.

Sentencing for Javier Salas-Lucero, 44, is scheduled for mid-December at which time he will face up to 20 years in federal prison followed by up to three years of parole and a fine of up to $250,000.

Salas-Lucero was involuntarily removed from the US to Mexico in October 1988 following his conviction for child molestation in Orange County, California.

On January 21, 2010, he was encountered by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer at Kingston City Court and determined to be an illegal alien.
