Napolitano :Administration Will Review Arizona Immig law

Secretary Napolitano Testifies Administration Will Review Arizona Immigration Law

    Newswire ServicesMay 02, 2010

WASHINGTON -- At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said the Justice Department will review the recently passed Arizona anti-immigrant law.

The Arizona law is the most extreme anti-immigrant law in the country, requiring law enforcement to question individuals about their immigration status during everyday police encounters, creating new immigration crimes and penalties inconsistent with those in federal law, asserting sweeping authority to detain and transport persons suspected of violating civil immigration laws and prohibiting speech and other expressive activity by persons seeking work. Secretary Napolitano stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deep concerns with the law's effects and that such broad immigration enforcement may detract and siphon resources away from ICE's priority of focusing on the most serious criminals.

The American Civil Liberties Union fiercely opposes the Arizona law, believing it will result in racial and ethnic profiling and alienate immigrant communities from cooperating with the police.

"If there's ever a time for the Obama administration to step in and take a stand for fairness and equality, the time is now. We call on the Obama administration to take every step within its power to make sure this abhorrent, discriminatory law never takes effect," says ACLU staff attorney Omar Jadwat.

What the hell does she call human smugglers and rapists and murders who are running rampant in Arizona? This woman needs to go home and bake cookies.

Sorry, Janet, you're wrong. The Arizona law IS the law of the country, not just Arizona. If you had any intention of enforcing our immigration laws, you would know what they are.

What a blatant propagandistic piece of hubris this article is!

The Arizona law is the most extreme anti-immigrant law in the country,
    and,

Justice Department will review the recently passed Arizona anti-immigrant law.
    and,

Napolitano stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deep concerns with the law's effects and that such broad immigration enforcement may detract and siphon resources away from ICE's priority of focusing on the most serious criminals.
It would seem from this piece of hubris that ICE's job is not just enforcing immigration laws, all of them, but to focus on the most serious criminals. Thus stating that if a illegal is quiet and stays in the shadows then ICE will not come after them!

    and,

The American Civil Liberties Union fiercely opposes the Arizona law, believing it will result in racial and ethnic profiling and alienate immigrant communities
How disgusting! Not once was the word or the concept of illegal used. What a bunch of disgusting thugs,.... parasitic intestinal tract worms have more integrity than the author(s) of this piece of hubris pretending to be worthy of publishing!

    Goebbels would be proud!
