Waukegan city officals continue to get pressure. Here is an article that is in our Spanish local paper. Lord help us, redheaded dangerous local hispanic activist Margaret Carassco was appointed local president of LULAC. Most of the city detests MC for all the lawsuits and trouble she has brought to the city. So ahhh this is going to go down really well....

Waukegan's controversial decision to apply for a federal program that would train local police to perform some immigration functions has spurred opposition from a national Latino organization.

The League of United Latin American Citizens held a press conference in front of City Hall Thursday to ask the city to reverse its decision on 287(g) taken in June, which would allow local police to initiate deportation proceedings for legal and illegal immigrant offenders if approved by Homeland Security.

"They will use 287(g) to stop anybody that looks like an immigrant," said Brent Wilkes, the national executive director for LULAC.

Waukegan city officials and police have said they would only use 287(g) for violent offenders and not those involved in misdemeanors or traffic stops.

Wilkes also asked the city to meet with Hispanic community leaders on a regular basis to relieve some of the recent polarization in the community.

"The responsibility of local police is to enforce local laws. If you're trying to solve a murder case you can't solve it if people are afraid to talk to you," Wilkes said.

He pointed to a recent case of Josefina Blas who called 911 after her husband was shot outside their Waukegan home on Aug. 3, and was subsequently charged with identity theft and unlawful possession of fraudulent identification.

According to Lorena Gonzalez, Blas' sister-in-law, police had threatened to deport Blas when she did not provide a driver's license or state identification card. During the investigation police discovered Blas had a fake Social Security card in her name.

Margaret Carrasco, who was named president of the Waukegan council of LULAC last week, said police cannot ask the immigration status of witnesses of crimes or those involved in crimes. She said she would like the city to set up an independent commission to monitor complaints against Waukegan police.

LULAC has 37 local chapters in Illinois, including Waukegan.

said Blanca Vargas, the organization's Illinois deputy state director.

The mission of LULAC is to advocate for the Hispanic community for equal access to employment, housing, education and civil rights.

Also during the press conference representatives of Centro Sin Fronteras and the Latin American Council for Labor said Waukegan residents should continue to support Waukegan businesses that display orange placards in their store windows in opposition to 287(g).

SCREW YOU LULAC!! You have no right to interfere with law enforcement and their RIGHT to protect Americans against crime.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

Why should they care about being stopped if they are not illegal.
After 9-11, I was asked at the SS office to empty my purse and I did, but it was not until later that I realized they others that were coming end was not asked as I was and that was because I looked middle easterned. This did not bother me at all. I have even been mistaken for Mexican and Philipino. I am a citizen of this country and I do not care how many times I am stopped. After a while it get kind of funny and that is because I am a citizen and I can prove it.

Time to do the math again: 37 LULAC chapters in Illinois -which is not a big state, and we are to believe we only have 12 million illegals here. A single story house recently raided had 58 illegals in it -just one house in one city, and we are to believe illegals don't put a strain on city services or blight neighborhoods - where do you park that many cars? The illegals and their supporters have declared war against America and her laws...
