NOTE: I put this article here because I feel they are trying to hype the "immigrant" angle. Do we know if the parents were legal or illegal immigrants? I don't know if I believe this article, because I doubt they would let be known (especially this soon) the identities of actual soldiers who were involved in the raid, for fear of reprisal against their families.

One of the Navy SEALs who helped kill Osama Bin Laden is the son of Mexican immigrants, according to a published report.

The U.S. soldier, whose parents were born in Guanajuato, was part of the now-famed elite Navy SEAL squad, Team Six, who killed the world's most notorious terrorist, El Universal reported.

The Mexican paper reported that the soldier's father, MartÃ*n MejÃ*a, received the news when a team of soldiers visited his California home some time after the successful operation. The proud father saw a dozen military officials carrying a crisply folded American flag – a gesture extended to families of fallen soldiers – and feared the worst.

"The soldiers brought us a United States flag, and when they saw that we started to cry, they clarified that it was a recognition, an honor, because our son had accomplished a great mission for the country," MejÃ*a told the paper.

The Al Qaeda leader was killed by the elite team on Sunday in a compound in Pakistan, ending a nearly decade-long manhunt that began with the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

MejÃ*a said he has spoken to his son, who told him that the team disabled a helicopter, suffered only minor injuries, and has already received personal praise from President Barack Obama.

MejÃ*a's son also said he was one of the SEALs who saw Bin Laden's body before it was tossed in the sea, the paper reported.

Guys, you may want to check your sources. El Universal printed a story that is so full of factual absurdities that to reprint even a part of it is nonsense.

First of all, there is no recognition that includes presentation of a folded flag to the soldier's family in any case other than death.

Second, you left out the fact that MejÃ*a's father said that his son said he thought the $50 million reward would be divided among the team. Not true. The reward was for individuals providing information leading to the capture or killing of Bin Ladin, but the military is not eligible - it is their job.

Personally, I think the elder MejÃ*a is just stretching for attention, but you really ought to apply a little common sense to stories you choose to repeat.

Hmm, I thought the SEALS weren't allowed to tell anyone what they do?

So, either the son screwed up and told daddy or daddy just laid a whopper.

Hope it's a made up story, I'd hate to think the father just outed his own son to terrorists. How incredibly stupid!

I just knew a story like this was coming.

You're right, the boy from Iowa whose ancestors have been here for over 200 years was not worthy of liberal news media attention.

Any special forces units are not reconized by names because of who they are,they strip name tags off uniforms leave dog tags behind no evidence of any knid.The familys are not told where their located or about their missions.They are kept undercover for safety reasons.This story is a lie he would have never told them about it and U.S. would not have told it.Im like you its just something they are trying to push on us to try to legalize illegal immigration.

And that's the worst part...it doesn't even say if they are legal or illegal immigrants. If they are legal, more power to them and "Bully!" for their son. Are they trying to imply they're illegal or something?

Even if I belived this story the fact is this dosent change anything anyway all it tells me is out of 12 millions plus you get 1 worth keeping. Haha

I do not believe any of this information, because no one are suppose to know who Navy Seals are as stated on CNN news this morning, is reason 9/11 victims families cannot thank them in person for mission carried out last Sunday night. It is possible; however, someone may have told news reporters information they should not have access to, maybe an immigrant parents.
