NC: Fighting Roosters and Drugs Seized in Illegals house

Fighting Roosters and Drugs Seized in Iredell County

Authorities busted up a drug operation in western Iredell County but they also discovered what appears to be a cockfighting ring.

Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Customs agents found cocaine and marijuana in an illegal immigrant's house Tuesday night.

The suspect, Serapio Garcia Abonza, returned home from work just after the search started.

Deputies first checked an outbuilding where they found cocaine hidden in a utility building.

When they entered the house, deputies found three pounds of marijuana in the refrigerator and a 15-pound block of pot as big as a suitcase in a bedroom closet.

They also discovered nearly three dozen roosters in which they believe were bred to fight.

The investigation started more than a year ago after neighbors filed complaints about the homeowner.

As WBTV's David Whisenant reports, law enforcement officers didn't know the gamecocks were there until they raided the house for drugs. Press "PLAY" to see this story.

The investigation started more than a year ago after neighbors filed complaints about the homeowner.
What kind of complaint did neighbors file...drug dealing?
It took them a YEAR TO INVESTIGATE--why an entire year?
Just how in-depth and costly was their year-long investigation since they were caught off-guard by the roosters?

Watched the video--how ironic, an illegal alien posts a "NO TRESSPASSING" sign!!!!

Just think of the amount of drugs this illegal put on the streets a a year!

This is a good reason for local police/deputies to enforce immigration laws.
    1. Neighbor complains.
    2. Police respond, inquire about legal status.
    3. Illegal status is just cause to obtain search warrant.
    4. Police find drugs and roosters.
    5. Case solved in one day instead of one year.

Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don't ever apologize for anything.â€

Looks to me like the Police were trained in Phoenix

They have the catch and release program going here and I have heard that the police will not bust them for Drugs if it is under 500 pounds of Pot.
