Illegal Immigrant Charged In Heroin Trafficking

Juan Cabrera, who barely stands 5 feet tall, didn't draw a lot of attention to himself in a rented mobile home off U.S. 301 near Four Oaks. But the 31-year-old man, authorities said was in the United States illegally, was allegedly supplying the Four Oaks area with heroin.

Johnston County Sheriff's narcotics Capt. A.C. Fish said Mr. Cabrera's arrest is one of the first in Johnston County of an alleged mid-level heroin dealer who has targeted his business toward a small community like Four Oaks.

Some of his customers are also believed to have come from the Smithfield area. Johnston County sheriff's drug agents said they seized just over 5 ounces of heroin during his arrest.

The drugs, Capt. Fish said, were in bulk amounts and also packaged in balloons for individual resale.

"As long as the government allows illegals to come up, we are going to see more and more charged with selling cocaine, meth, heroin, and other dope," Capt. Fish told WMPM radio.

Mr. Cabrera was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $101,000.
