(AP) - The Latino advocacy group El Pueblo says it wants the General Assembly to create English-language instruction in immigrant communities.

The group also wants state lawmakers to oppose efforts to get local and state police involved in enforcing federal immigration laws.

El Pueblo's 2007-2008 legislative agenda also supports more money for education, a stronger migrant housing law, and closure to what it calls "loopholes" in North Carolina's pesticide law.
