3rd female chief in agency's history says 3 agents to be placed in each of 12 regional communities

San Antonio native Rosa Nelly Hernandez will supervise 180 personnel, including 141 agents, to cover 861 linear miles of the U.S./Canada border, with its headquarters in Grand Forks.

Rosa Nelly Hernandez has assumed command of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol sector in Grand Forks.

She was transferred the position of chief patrol agent from Rowdy Adams at a ceremony that included members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a bagpipe and drum corps Wednesday morning at the North Dakota Air Branch near Grand Forks International Airport.

Hernandez is the first female to command the Grand Forks sector and third female chief in the history of the Border Patrol.
