    Nearly $1 million in pot seized in Otay Mesa

    Nearly 1,600 pounds of marijuana were discovered hidden in a shipment of cardboard scrap at the Otay Mesa border crossing Thursday, authorities said.

    The semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer entered the cargo port about 12:30 p.m. and a gamma ray imaging system detected anomalies with the load, officials said. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers unloaded the shipment and discovered a glass box filled with 47 packages of marijuana, valued at $960,000.

    The driver, a 35-year-old man from Rosarito, Mexico, was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling.

    This is getting pretty confusing. Posted earlier were arrests made with transporting pot TO Mexico, and now we have pot coming FROM Mexico.
    Does it depend on what flavor you prefer, or is this the new currency?
