Newly arrived illegal immigrants backrupting local schools

President Obama has shelved plans to issue an executive order that would have provided amnesty for up to five million illegal immigrants now residing in this country. His own party reportedly asked him to postpone any such order until after the midterm elections, according to The Hill Friday.

It seems many Democrats are now becoming convinced that theSenate is lost and Republicans will take control when the 2015 session begins. Their only hope of preventing that scenario is stopping any action on such an unpopular issue for American voters.

Although that executive order may never see the light of day, state and local governments must now find an additional $761 million to fund the education of tens of thousands of Central American children who have already crossed the border illegally under President Obama’s watch. According to The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), more than 37,000 illegal immigrants who have already entered the United States are of school age and must be provided for by the American taxpayer.

To make the situation even more difficult, a statement issued from FAIR said, "These kids will require special Limited English Proficient (LEP) classes conducted in Spanish, or in other languages indigenous to Central American, as well as other taxpayer funded services, such as free and reduced school meals. Once again the costs of federal government’s failed immigration policies are borne at the local level, and the nation's public school system is where the costs are most visible."

One can only wonder what the cost to the American taxpayer will be if President Obama signs an executive order after the election allowing up to five million more illegal immigrants amnesty status. Most educators concur the cost would bankrupt most local and state educational systems.
