NJ:Mayor:Give Illegals A "Path To Legalization"

The Morristown mayor is pandering for business groups. I put up a few of the comments from readers in New Jersey. Every comment is AGAINST the Mayor. WHERE IS THE COMMON SENSE OF POLITICIANS!

Mayor: Give illegals a "path to legalization"
    by George!

    Thursday January 17, 2008, 8:00 AM

Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello has a reputation as a hard-liner on illegal aliens. But he seems to extend an olive branch in this talk, before the governor's blue-ribbon panel on immigration in New Brunswick last month.

"I'm suggesting that we immediately move forward with an order that would permit all illegals who are in this country to be granted a pathway to legalization," Cresitello said. "The pathway to legalization would not be granting citizenship, would not grant amnesty, but would certainly give people the opportunity to travel back and forth to visit their families, and have an opportunity to be paid a living wage, have an opportunity to be paid all wages they are entitled to."

The mayor contended any illegals not on this pathway to legalization should be treated as felons, as should anyone who hires them.

"We do not need a wall. We should not build a fence. But we ought to enforce the law, and we should encourage legalization."

    Cresitello added:

"It is wrong for people to have to get a job on the street. .. Let's give them an opportunity, and an opportunity can be granted through a pathway to legalization."

    And this:

"The American people will accept this. They do not want amnesty. Let's stop fighting among each other, let's grant these citizens that are here the rights they are entitled to, even though they came here illegally, and let's do it immediately, a pathway to citizenship, a pathway to legalization, tomorrow."

The mayor's remarks were videotaped by Wind of the Spirit, an immigrant assistance group that has clashed with him. The group's motto is: "No Human Being is Illegal."

Co-founder Diana Mejia called Cresitello's remarks "a good step," but she won't rest until the mayor scraps efforts to deputize town police as immigration officers.

    "He's unpredictable," Mejia said.

PBS examined immigration issues in Morristown last fall. The documentary can be viewed here. http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/342/index.html

Let's give them a path back to where they came from. Then they can get on the path to the end of the line to come here the right way.
They are not citizens; they were not born here nor were they naturalized.
They are illegal immigrants and the only path they deserve to be on leads out of here.
They are a disruptive force to our ability to make a living wage. Why would any employer pay me, a citizen, a living wage when they can pay people who don't belong here dirt and have them think they're getting a good deal? They are keeping wages down which, in turn, keeps profit up. It's not business, it's greed from the top.
They should all go back to their own countries and work for change there. How many thousands of workers were killed fighting for workers' rights in this country? They should not be allowed, under any circumstances, to come here and infringe on our ability to make a living.
Why are there jobs Americans won't do? Because they don't pay enough money to keep a roof over their heads. That's capitalism. When employers can't fill jobs, they have to make them more attractive and that generally means raising wages.

What other laws should we ignore? I don't like paying any taxes, can I ignore those laws? After all, I will only be doing to earn more money for my family to live.

There are many businesses that cannot afford to pay employees minimum wage or higher. (Or so they say) So they hire illegal aliens to work for ridiculous wages. These are not legitimate businesses. They don't have a valid business plan.
Suppose a business leases a building. It can't afford the electricity to run the building so it has to rig the electric meter.
What's the difference? There is none. They're both business expenses they "can't" afford. They're both illegal activities!!
If you cannot afford to pay legal wages, YOU DO NOT HAVE A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!

The Internal Revenue Service should check all of the contractor who pay illegals cash and under the table. These contractors do not pay taxes on illegal wages. Nor do the illegals pay taxes on the wages that contractors pay them. If the Internal Revenue Service cracks down on these contactors, there will be a clear path back to the illegals home country. Wake up Internal Revenue Service.

Not one of them should be here if they are "illegal" They should not be making money, "under the table". They pay no taxes to our state. They get free medical while we are paying enourmous medical premiums. There is something wrong with our state and country for allowing this. Corzine kills us with state taxes and now wants to raise the turnpike tolls. Hell they don't even drive so that doesnt affect them either. What about checking out the contractors taht hire them Governor. OR ARE you only going after the little guy that pays taxes and hires independents. Putting out own out of business with this audit. This is disgusting

Sure, no problem, I would be happy to give dozens of them a free ride to Tijuana.
