No leads in kidnapping of 14-year-old Eloy girl

    Novermber 20, 2006

No leads in kidnapping of 14-year-old Eloy girl
ELOY, Ariz. -- There were no new leads in the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl apparently kidnapped from her home in Eloy and possibly taken to Mexico, authorities said Monday.

Jesus Liliana Vega was taken from her home here about 3 a.m. Sunday by two men who forced their way into the house, the Eloy Police Department said.

Detective Violet Maestas said one of the possible alleged abductors may be Jose Garcia, about 20, who also uses the name Jesus Ramirez.

He was described as a Hispanic man around 5 feet tall and 140 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Vega is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. She has medium-length brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown shirt with flower prints, faded denim jeans and brown sandals.

Garcia lived about three houses away and "has shown interest in Liliana in the past," Maestas said.

No description was provided on a second man, nor was there any description or information on a vehicle.

Earlier, Eloy Police Capt. Shane Blakeman said the neighbor previously had threatened to kidnap the girl. He said the girl was taken from the house while her mother was at work.

Blakeman said the girl's 13-year-old brother heard two male voices and a scream, but didn't go into his sister's room because he wasn't sure if the noises had come from inside the house.

Authorities said they thought the suspect might be taking Vega to Mexico where, according to his aunt, he has family.

Eloy, an hour south of Phoenix, is about two hours north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

There is so little in the news about this as if it is a so common everyday occurrence. Oops, it is.

The only reason that last time this happened, a month ago that it got a lot of publicity is because the guy was involved in a high speed chase with police before he was caught.

Police on both sides of the border look for kidnapped girl

    Nov 21, 2006 08:14 AM

Lilliana Vega has been missing from her Eloy home for two days now.

Police are worried that her abductor or abductors are taking her to Mexico.

Lilliana" Vega is 5-5....150 pounds. She has brown hair... And brown eyes...

Lilliana was last seen wearing a brown t-shirt with flower print.. And faded jeans.

Lilliana's mother made an emotional plea for the safe return of her daughter.

Rosario Reyes was at work when two men came for Lilliana.

She says her son heard screaming coming from his sister's room Sunday morning.

When he went to see what was going on... He saw two men taking his sister by force.

Police believe Lilliana's neighbor...19-year-old Jose Garcia is one of the men responsible.

Police say Lilliana's abducters may be heading for Nogales.

Law Enforcement along the border is on the lookout...

"Attempt to locate on an Amber Alert...Jesus Liiliana Vega....14-year-old kidnapped."

The attempt to locate went out to Nogales Police officers in the field... And into Mexico.

C-cuartro is the equivalent of our 911 system.

Nogales Police Lt. Octavio Gradillas says, "That gives us as far as law enfocement more eyes and ears and our search won't end up here. The whole state of Sonora once we give them a picture will join us in the search."

A search that will be challenging because there is no vehicle description, and for awhile they only had a decsription of Liliana as well, which posed its own challenge finding the girl.

"Needle in a haystack. The information is very generic."

"The main gate into Mexico is through Nogales. Sometimes they take other roads trying to get around from being detected. They usually end up going through Nogales."

That's why a picture is so important. Nogales police didn't receive one until Monday.

Liliana Vega's picture has been distributed to Noagles Police Department, Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol, as well as their counterparts in Mexico.

So now that law enforcement officers have a picture of Lilliana, they hope to have her back into her mother's arms very soon.

Missing Eloy girl found in Mexico with boyfriend
    ARIZONA DAILY STAR
A 14-year-old Eloy girl who was believed to be abducted from her home Sunday has been found in Mexico, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Eloy police spoke with Jesus "Lilliana" Vega on Wednesday afternoon by phone and she told them that she is in Colonia Guadalupe in Mexico with her boyfriend, Jose Garcia, said Amanda Villescaz, a spokeswoman for the department.

Vega told a detective that she went of her own free will and that she had not been harmed in any way, Villescaz said.

The girl's parents do not have a problem with Vega being taken across the border by her boyfriend - who is 19 or 20 years old - and the Amber Alert that was issued for the Vega was canceled.

The alert was issued after Eloy police received a report that the girl was taken from her house in the 400 block of West Alsdorf Road between 3 and 3:30 a.m. while her mother was at work, said Capt. Shane Blakeman, a department spokesman.

Vega's 13-year-old brother heard two male voices followed by a scream, but he didn't walk into his sister's bedroom because he wasn't sure whether the noise had come from inside the house, Blakeman said.
