POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A Mexican immigrant who admitted he stabbed a Poughkeepsie woman to death has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Juan Santiago Toledo admitted he repeatedly stabbed 45-year-old Terry Wendover with a knife on the night of July 29, 2007 in a pharmacy parking lot. He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in January and was handed down a 20 year sentence in Dutchess County Court Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Santiago Toledo was arrested in November 2007 and was originally found mentally incompetent to stand trial. He was returned to Dutchess County Jail last fall after a psychiatrist determined he was fit to stand trial.
