Three charged in human smuggling attempt
    January 27, 2007
CHAMPLAIN — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended two Israeli nationals Thursday as they attempted to enter the United States illegally, hidden aboard an inbound commercial truck.

Using gamma-imaging technology, the officers discovered the two individuals hiding in the sleeper compartment of the truck, according to a release from Customs and Border Protection.

Michel Gagnon from Lachine, Quebec, applied for entry Thursday into the United States at the Champlain Port of Entry. He presented a manifest and invoice for plastic products en route to a manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh.

Officers selected the shipment for a secondary enforcement exam. During the course of the inspection, they used gamma-ray technology to produce a high-resolution image of the conveyance contents. The scan produced anomalies in the cab of the truck, the news release said.

A physical inspection resulted in the discovery of Erin Levy, 34, and Leeshay Tweezer, 28, Israeli nationals without proper documentation to enter or remain in the United States.

Both people were arrested on federal charges of attempted illegal entry into the United States. Goodman was arrested on federal charges of alien smuggling.

They are being held until an appearance in U.S. District Court in Albany.

"Although anti-terrorism remains the primary mission of CBP, our heightened vigilance has resulted in an increase in enforcement actions, including the apprehension of illegal aliens at the border crossings within the Buffalo Field Office" stated Kevin Corsaro, public affairs officer for the Buffalo Field Office.

Isn't it amazing how many people get caught at the Canadian/American border but criminal and gang members from Mexico and Central America can come in the country, be deported and return. I wonder if it has anything to do with the staff at the Canadian/ American border. Is it possible that because they are regular Americans who are there to enforce the law rather than have sympathy for their own ethnic people?
I also wonder how so many Cubans make it on land in Florida and don't get caught. On Wednesday morning 15 Cubans landed on the military base in Key West.

    Northern border

Most people entering from the northern border don't yell racism when caught. People entering the southern border yell racism all the time. Americans are sensitive to charges of racism and this makes Americans worry. The problem is that capturing illegals has nothing to due with racism but many americans will not say that.
