Officers arrest 31-year-old Mexican man convicted of sexually assaulting a child

Officers arrested a 31-year-old Mexican man with a sexual assault conviction last week in Mission.

The Harlingen Fugitive Operations Unit -- a part of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- arrested Adrian Rincon-Ruiz on Thursday.

Ricon-Ruiz is a Mexican citizen who previously lived in Edinburg, according to Hidalgo County jail records.
According to the federal criminal complaint:

Record checks revealed the defendant was formally removed from the United States to Mexico on April 27, 2012 via the Brownsville, Texas Port of Entry. The defendant was instructed not to return without permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States. The defendant claims to have illegally re-entered the United States on or about February 1, 2016 by wading the Rio Grande River at or near Hidalgo, Texas.

Officers also determined Rincon-Ruiz was convicted of sexual assault of a child on April 24, 2012, and sentenced to 10 years
probation, according to the criminal complaint.

Officers charged Rincon-Ruiz with illegal re-entry.

Court records don't list an attorney for Rincon-Ruiz, who remains in federal custody.
