HAMILTON - Two men who may be illegal aliens from Mexico have been arrested in Butler County on forgery and identify fraud charges for allegedly forging identification cards.

An undercover investigation led the Butler County Sheriff’s Office to Jose Edgar Diaz-Aguirre, 33, and Nestor Jesus Pineda-Ramos, 25.

Undercover officers met Pineda-Ramos on Tuesday in West Chester to arrange the buy, providing a photo and name for the documents.

The two men then met officers on Wednesday at a Fairfield Mexican restaurant to deliver the forged social security card and permanent resident card. They were arrested at the scene.

Deputies found marked money and a ledger showing previous sales of other identification cards, including cards from several states.

The pair admitted to being illegal aliens, deputies said. Diaz-Aguirre said he entered the county about a month before the arrest.

Both are being held in the county’s correctional complex and could face deportation.

FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- Two men were arrested Wednesday in Fairfield and charged with forging immigration documents.

Deputies said they purchased a forged Social Security card Tuesday from Nestor Jesus Peneda-Ramos, 25, and Jose Edgar Diaz-Aguirre, 33, during an undercover operation.

Investigators said they met with Pineda-Ramos in West Chester and provided a photo and name for the documents, and authorities said both men delivered the completed items to an undercover officer at a Fairfield Mexican restaurant.

Officers arrested the pair, and investigators said they found marked money on Diaz-Aguirre and a ledger that might identify previous transactions.

Authorities said the men might have made forged identification cards for California, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, permanent residence and Social Security cards.

A fraudulent Mexican driver's license was also found on Peneda-Ramos, investigators said.

Peneda-Ramos and Diaz-Aguirre are each charged with two counts of forgery and identity fraud and one count of driving without an operator’s license.

The pair remains in police custody while Immigration and Customs Enforcement determines their immigration status.
