TULSA — Hispanic community leaders are meeting in Tulsa today to announce they will be suing the state of Oklahoma over recently passed immigration enforcement legislation, HB 1804.


The decision to sue the state comes on the heels of the attorney general stating he would not be able to render a public opinion on the constitutionality of the proposed bill until months after Nov.1 — the date it will go into effect.

HB 1804 largely is considered the most stringent immigration enforcement laws in the nation.

Georgia, also known for its tough immigration laws, also has been named in a similar suit.

"Our undocumented families have been devastated. Hundreds have been deported. Thousands have left Tulsa. They have either returned to their home countries or moved to other states where their future is uncertain,â€
