DUNCAN, Okla. — Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney confirmed Thursday afternoon the wounds a murder victim sustained and provided more information on a person of interest in the case.

According to McKinney, Linda Salazar, a 20-year-old Stephens County resident, was murdered and found with her throat slit in a shed located near the intersection of McKinley Road and Shamrock Road within the city limits of Marlow. Her body was found Monday morning.

McKinney said his office has honed in on a person of interest in the case. Balthazar Sanchez-Garcia, age 25, who weighs 165 pounds and is 5 foot 8 inches tall, is a very high profile person of interest in the case, McKinney said.

According to McKinney, Sanchez-Garcia is an illegal immigrant. The vehicle he is allegedly in, which is a white 2005 GMC Yukon with Oklahoma tag 444AFH, has had a nationwide alert sent out on it through NCIC. McKinney confirmed the victim and the person of interest are not blood related, but would not comment any further about the relationship between the two.

McKinney said a felony warrant has been issued for the man for larceny of a vehicle.

“We feel he may be traveling to Texas and/or Mexico,” McKinney said.

However, McKinney said they are still trying to piece together evidence and follow up on other leads.

If Sanchez-Garcia or the vehicle is seen, citizens are asked to contact SCSO immediately at 580-255-3131 or by calling 911.
