This was in La Raza today. There is a First Baptist in Waukegan -not sure from article if she's taking refuge there or still deciding?? Either way it looks like this local activist has wrought damage to Waukegan and I wish her well back in Mexico. So Emma Lozano is back in the news... She’s Staying


On Monday, January 28, Flor Crisóstomo just might be continuing the fight started by Elvira Arellano, taking refuge in the same Adalberto Methodist Church. This woman’s other option is deportation to Mexico.

The decision to be taken by Flor Crisóstomo, a native of Oaxaca in Mexico, was still uncertain as of the close of this edition.

But that final decision might have been announced already in Waukegan last week during the night of Thursday, January 17, when she called a meeting with the people who accompanied her in protest campaign and boycott against the city government, which plans to certify its police officers under Federal Program 287 (g).

The meeting took place in the First Baptist Church at six o’clock in the evening, with no more than 20 people present. La Raza was the only communications medium represented. Flor was accompanied by Emma Lozano, Executive Director of the Centro Sin Fronteras.

Starting that night, Flor had 11 days until Monday, January 28, by when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says she must leave the country.

But first, Flor had to make two trips, one to Houston and another to New York, going through immigration checkpoints in the airports and running the risk of arrest.
