Illegal migrants bring array of woes

The editorial Monday, "Simple reality," ignores critical "realities" regarding illegal immigration.

Citing the defeat of Republicans by pro-immigration-reform/amnesty Democrats is not telling in a year when the GOP brand is at a low point in its history.

The assumption that the Republicans who used illegal immigration as a "wedge issue" lost because of that strategy lacks the reality of the times. It is no surprise that when the economy is reeling, the incumbent party will take a big hit.
It is very surprising that Arizona's largest newspaper omits the overwhelmingly support for measures making illegal aliens non-bondable, preventing them from getting public dollars for higher education and the employer-sanctions law.

Lastly, the wave of illegal immigration has fueled the drug traffic from Mexico (the source of almost all cocaine and methamphetamine) into the U.S. The distribution network of couriers, stash-house operators and sellers is made up of illegal immigrants from Mexico.

In times of a struggling economy, when cost estimates of illegal immigration (education, incarceration, health care and social security for illegal aliens and their children) runs into the trillions of dollars, Americans may not support "comprehensive immigration reform." - Paul Nack,Phoenix
