The grieving mother of a 20-year-old Irish national killed last week in a police shooting in Silverton arrived in Oregon this afternoon to collect her son's remains and details about the case.

After the June 30 shooting, Dorothea Carroll went on Irish radio to criticize police and prosecutors for not providing her with information about Andrew Hanlon's death. She planned to meet Friday with the Marion County district attorney.

She hopes to take her son's body back to Dublin early next week, said Danny Hannon, her brother and Hanlon's godfather.

"This is such a terrible thing that has happened," he said after putting Carroll on a plane from Los Angeles to Portland. "She wants to take her boy home."
