NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) -- The New Bedford leather goods manufacturer that was the subject of a massive immigration raid in March has now been accused of violating workplace safety standards.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing $45,000 in fines against Michael Bianco, Incorporated.

OSHA says inspectors found chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards during inspections that started after the federal immigration raid that resulted in the arrests of more than 360 people.

OSHA says it found problems that, left uncorrected, could have caused serious injuries to workers at the factory, which provides equipment and apparel for the U.S. military.

The company has 15 days to decide whether to contest the fines.
