An illegal immigrant accused of murder and sought for months by York City Police detectives is now back in York County, being held without bail.

The Dominican known as "Pulga" -- Spanish for flea -- has used numerous aliases, including Francisco Reyes-Perdomo.

But after being arraigned Wednesday night at the county's Central Booking Unit on charges of homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide, he signed his name Jose Francisco Sosa-Reyes, officials said.

Sosa-Reyes, 23, was taken to the booking unit after being extradited from New York City, officials said.

He is accused of fatally shooting Roberto DeJesus-Vargas, 38, of York at the corner of Girard and Prospect streets. DeJesus-Vargas was sitting in his parked SUV when he was shot at least seven times, police said.

Sosa-Reyes' alleged getaway driver, 18-year-old Kenel Omar Garcia-Cruz of York City, remains in county prison, charged with homicide and conspiracy.

The hunt: York City Detectives Jeff Spence and Andy Baez captured Sosa-Reyes June 28 in Brooklyn, N.Y. They said they found him living like a homeless person and sleeping in a basement hallway on Weldon Street.

In March, Spence, Baez and a U.S. marshal flew to Puerto Rico looking for Sosa-Reyes, who apparently slipped away. But while there, they arrested two other men wanted in York County crimes -- Kelvin Curet-Sanchez, 22, and Angel Mendez-Castro, 22, both associates of Sosa-Reyes.

Mendez-Castro was wanted on charges of heroin dealing, burglary and probation violations, police said. Curet-Sanchez was wanted for allegedly shooting at a home in the 600 block of South Yale Avenue in Spring Garden Township about 12:50 a.m. Oct. 16. No one was injured, police said.

A federal immigration detainer has also been filed against Sosa-Reyes, a prison official said. That means once his criminal case is resolved he faces deportation back to the Dominican Republic.

During their hunt for Sosa-Reyes, the U.S. Marshals Service developed information that he had ties to Philadelphia, New York City, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

A preliminary hearing date for him has not yet been set, according to the office of District Judge Linda Williams.

Six related arrests: In addition to the two Puerto Rico arrests and the arrest of the alleged getaway driver, police have arrested three other people while searching for Sosa-Reyes. They are:

---Cristian Mendez-Castro, 19, of York City, charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a romantic rival in the thigh on July 22. The teen was captured Jan. 27 during a six-hour standoff in the 200 block of East College Avenue, where police believed Sosa-Reyes was hiding. He is the brother of Angel Mendez-Castro.

---Denson Negron-Acosta, 26, charged with illegally possessing a sawed-off shotgun with an obliterated serial number. He was arrested March 2.

---A 16-year-old was arrested for selling marijuana, also on March 2.
