Thread: Pelosi: Trump Said He Would Sign the Dream Act

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said during her weekly press conference on Thursday that President Donald Trump would sign the Dream Act if Congress passed the legislation.

Pelosi explained that at her meeting the prior day at the White House with Trump and other congressional leaders, where they agreed to a short-term debt-ceiling extension, Trump said he would sign the Dream Act.

"We made it very clear in the course of the conversation that we would, the priority was to pass the Dream Act that we wanted to do, and obviously it has to be bipartisan," Pelosi said. "The president said he supports that, he would sign it. But, we have to get it passed."

Congress has attempted to pass the "Dream Act" several times in the past 16 years, and every attempt failed. The bill creates protections and a path to legalization for young illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children, who are referred to as dreamers. In 2012, the Obama administration instituted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which shielded dreamers from deportation.

Last week, the Trump administration ended the DACA program, which caused Democrats and some Republicans to call for the passage of the Dream Act or some variation of it.

On Thursday morning, Trump tweeted at the request of Pelosi that dreamers have nothing to worry about for the next six months.

Pelosi said one of the Democratic Party's top legislative priorities is to pass the Dream Act.

"As Democratic leaders made it clear, in the strongest possible way, we believe the Dream Act must come to the floor and act as soon as possible," Pelosi said. "We will not rest until that is done."

Wow, I guess that removes absolutely any doubt where Trump stands on an amnesty DACA bill. There is no strategy or secret plan behind his madness as of late, he just wants an accomplishment, any accomplishment! I guess he has decided that any achievement he can accomplish is better than no achievement. Of course that is in complete disregard of what he promised is base supporters!

On Thursday morning, Trump tweeted at the request of Pelosi that dreamers have nothing to worry about for the next six months.

Trump Has Always Backed Amnesty, White House Says

Yeah, I think he lied to her about the DACAs to get the debt ceiling, spending and Harvey Relief funds to take care of 300 million Americans, about 15 million of them facing or about to face incredible loss and upheaval, even injury and death from these Hurricanes.

Trump's saying what he's got to say to take care of Americans in extreme danger while Pelosi is holding Americans hostage to take care of people who aren't even supposed to be in our country. And her statements are on tape on YouTube. How about it San Francisco, if you have an Earthquake some day, you want your Congresscritter exploiting your suffering to negotiate some criminal based amnesty for illegal aliens?! Really??!! You people really need to wake the hell up.

Hmm, sounds like you're admitting Trump is a liar and that he can't be trusted.

Well, MW, a President or anyone for that matter can say one thing to someone for one reason and purpose and then say something else to them for another reason and purpose. That is not lying in business. That is not lying in negotiations. That's not even lying in politics. That is changing your mind to meet the changing conditions.

Americans can trust this President to protect our interests. I'm not so sure illegal aliens should.

When is a lie not a lie ......... when the lie is spoken by Donald Trump.

Regardless of who it's said to and why it's said, a lie is a lie.

A lie is a statement used intentionally for the purpose of deception. The practice of communicating lies is called lying, and a person who communicates a lie may be termed a liar. Lies may be employed to serve a variety of instrumental, interpersonal, or psychological functions for the individuals who use them.

If you like that word, go ahead and use it, I don't care. I use it from time to time myself. I think Trump lied to Pelosi and I said so.
