Pew Hispanic Trust: 1 in 36 Hispanic males in prison in U.S.

Gee, just when Geraldo and the MSM are denying the crime statistics or the propensity for crime in certain populations.....

    TRANSLATION:
One out of every 36 Hispanics is in prison
1 out of every 36 male, adult Hispanics living in the U.S. is imprisoned, three times than the average of the total population, reveals a study released by Pew yesterday. According to the report, beginning this year there were 2, 139,258 adults in prison, which is about 1 per every 99 men and women. It is the first time in U.S. history where more than 1% of the population is in prison. Despite all the money that is spent on jails and prisons there has not been a clear and convincing benefit for public safety, said Adam Gelb, director of the Pew Hispanic project for the states, who conducted the study.

During almost 3 decades the U.S. has implemented a heavy hand policy towards crime, both at the Federal and state level, that has increased jail sentences even for minor crimes.

More and more states have begun to reconsider their policies to send delincuents convicted for minor crimes to prison and they find other strategies that are severe on crime without them being too burdensome on the taxpayer, he added.

By age groups, it's notable that males older than 18, 1 out of 54 are in prison. By ethnic groups, the proportion is 1 out of every 36 Hispanic adult males, and 1 out of every 15 Black adult males.

The statistics reveal that 1 out of every 30 men between the ages of 20-34 are in prison but the proportion jumped to 1 out of 9 for black males in that age category. Likewise, if males have 13 times more of a probability of being incarcerated, the female prison population has grown at an even more rapid pace. For black women in between the ages of 35-39 the rate of incarceration also has gone to 1 out of every 100.

Last year, the states spent more than 49,000 millions of dollars in prisons and jails, an increase of 11,000 milions in 20 years, according to the report. But the rate of recidivism has stayed virtually unchanged and almost half the delincuents that leave prison come back to prison within three years following their release, indicated the Pew Hispanic Trust.

Uno de cada 36 hispanos está en prisión
    NACIONALES - 02/29/2008

It's all interesting but what are the actual crime's committed stats. Not just incarceration numbers but actual crimes committed per capita population.

Yet time and again they will argue, claiming there is no proof of criminal activity by large numbers of illegal aliens.

Granted, there may be more crime committed by American citizens, but that's only because we are still.....for the time being....the majority. Given the number of illegals here, the crime rate is very high amongst them, and, if you factor in every single crime committed by them just in the course of living here illegally and going about their "better lives", there's really not a single one who is not a criminal.

I think the secret wish of Hispanic males is that they can go to jail to get free room and board, TV, free medical, games, free public defenders, and a social group of other Hispanic cohorts to play around with. Their misguided sympathetic families just pity and cater to these losers. They probably hope to be arrested.

NO RESPONSIBILITY OR ECONOMIC WORRIES FOR THEM!
