What in the world is a 'Human Relation Commission'?

Do that actually have some legal standing as in the ability to access fines or punishment?

    Philly's "Human Relation Commission" mini-ACLU

    Agency Function
The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) was established in 1952. The Commission is mandated by the Home Rule Charter to enforce the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance. The Ordinance prohibits discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, and the provision of City services. It is unlawful to discriminate in these areas because of race, color, gender, religion, age (excluding public accommodations) sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, and disability. In housing, it is also unlawful to discriminate because of marital status, the source of income, and the presence of children. In addition, the Commission reduces and prevents intergroup tension in Philadelphia, provides education on intergroup harmony and cultural diversity, and mediates disputes through its Disputes resolution program. The Commission has nine Commissioners appointed by the Mayor.

Philadelphia: Illegal aliens welcome, Boy Scouts deported,

This of course comes from the City which recently (because the City Attorney is a rabid, ACLU, gay rights activist) decided that they would oust the Cradle of Liberty Boy Scout Council from their leased premises (that they have leased for over 75 years) b/c of the National policy of not allowing openly gay men to be Scout leaders. This is a city with one of the highest homicide rates for young teens .... yet they think its better to pick on the Boy Scouts.

Joey Vento has given millions of dollars to support many, many organizations in the City and his place of business has welcomed tourists and visitors from all over the world. But the City thinks it's "discriminatory" to require that one order a cheesesteak in English. Mexican illegal aliens have moved into the area surrounding the restaurant and of course they ran to their professional ethno-supremacist advocates to complain about being "offended" by Joey's tiny sign displayed by the order window.

Why is this even a question. What happened to our freedoms. If it was my business, I should be able to run it they way I want. That is to say that workers should be speaking English as work. This is, after all AMERICA and we speak English here. There should be no question.

This sounds like a legal card to conduct witch hunts. This is outrageous.

People think it sounds so good when the government(s) pass some law that seems to be so 'good' and so touchy feely - when their actual purpose is to have control of private enterprise and private ownership.

They don't think of all the many ways these laws can be used against ordinary citizens.

English the international language of business, commerce ...

Of course it makes sense to require workers to speak English in the workplace for safety, security etc. English is the international language of commerce, business, air travel, etc.

But then again, we are talking Philadelphia which is a mini-version of San Fransisco. Half of Mayor Street's administration have been indicted, jaiiled, arrested for corruption and crime including several family members. Boy Scouts are ousted. The police commissioner all but declared it a "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens in 2006 during a Senate immigration hearing in Philadelphia where Kennedy and Specter also spoke. The City Solicitor has a clear political agenda, he's a former ACLU lawyer, a rabid gay rights activist and best of all a La RAZA illegal alien supporter....Romulo Diaz, a fine fellow.

The Fairmount Park Commission includes Robert Nix a Mexican immigration lawyer specializing in recruitment of Mexicans on H2-A and H2-B unskilled labor visas, and pro-open borders, pro-illegal alien shill who decided to increase the rent to the Boy Scouts to 250,000/year so that they would leave the City of Philadelphia. (have to make room for those illegal aliens from Mexico, I guess).

From what I've heard during his interviews is he never refuses service to anyone but they need to order in English. I think these types of things will continue until this country has finally had it to the eyeballs and just blows.
