Fresno news never publishes immigration status IF the police even check; they don't help enforce immigration law here. But knowing that there are illegals all over this area it's a pretty sure bet some of these criminals were here illegally.

Police arrested a total of 77 people during an operation to curb the increase of gang violence in southeast Fresno Wednesday night.

Fresno police said they targeted two gangs as a result of recent shootings into homes occupied by families and violence committed by gang members.

On March 2, Santana Ronn, 19, of Fresno died during a quadruple shooting at Peach and North avenues, south of Fresno. Then on March 5, a shooting in the 4400 block of East Olive resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy.

Police conducted parole and probation searches as part of the operation. Officers arrested 37 people on suspicion of committing a felony, eight people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and 32 people on misdemeanor offenses.

Officers also seized four rifles, drugs and issued 43 hazardous traffic citations. They also impounded 22 vehicles on suspicion of license violations
