Police Investigate Suspected Drop House

PHOENIX (AP) -- Immigration agents and Phoenix police busted another drop house, this time in the Maryvale area of West Phoenix.

An anonymous tip led Phoenix police to the drop house near 87th Avenue and Encanto. Police knocked on the door and several illegal immigrants began breaking out windows and attempted to flee the residence.

At least 60 illegal immigrants have been found along with one suspected smuggler.

Phoenix police say they recovered a shot gun from inside the house.

Neighbors call it sad and overwhelming.

The illegal immigrants are being handed over to federal immigration agents.

Just last night, 81 people were found crammed inside two Mesa condos near University and Stapley.

Officers went to the home after tracking a man they thought was a suspect smuggler.

2 Houses Evacuated Near Suspected Drop House

(CBS 5 NEWS) - Two houses in area of 87th Avenue and Encanto are reportedly being evacuated. Armed people are believed to be inside a suspected drop house nearby.

A SWAT team is on the scene.
