Las Cruces Police have arrested a man and charged him with forcing one of his employees to have sex at a local restaurant.
Jose Acevedo, 72, of the 2600 block of North Valley Drive, is charged with one count each of criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual contact and battery.
Police said that the 32-year-old female victim was working after closing hours on June 15 at La Barca restaurant at 504 Amador Ave. when Acevedo, the owner of the restaurant, approached her and demanded sex. The victim refused Acevedo's advances.
Detectives said that Acevedo then threatened to harm the woman, or have her deported, if she did not comply.
Acevedo was arrested Thursday and was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash bond set at $50,000.
