Police suspect four in credit card scheme

Thousand Oaks police arrested four men from West Hollywood last week on suspicion of operating a major credit card manufacturing ring.

Police said they found more than 1,000 counterfeit credit and gift cards along with equipment used to manufacture credit cards and identification cards in the apartment of one of the suspects, Aleksey Prokopyev, 27, who was arrested.

Police said the investigation began in August of 2008 after a Best Buy store in Thousand Oaks reported to police several incidents in which two men bought high-end televisions “and then used their receipts to steal additional merchandise.â€
