U.S. Border Patrol agent injured after traffic stop altercation in Whitewater

The occupants of the vehicle attacked the agent, who was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was hurt today in an altercation with three people following a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Whitewater.

The assault was reported just before 3 p.m. on Interstate 10 at the Highway 111 exit, according to Agent Aaron Van Zee.

The occupants of the vehicle attacked the agent, who was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Van Zee said.

Two people were arrested, but a third suspect remained at large, he said.
