    Poverty growing in Texas schools

    Poverty growing in Texas schools
More than half of state’s students disadvantaged, report finds

Almost six out of 10 Texas public schoolchildren hail from low-income families, marking a troubling spike in poverty over the last decade, a new state report finds.

The increase coincides with a significant jump in the number of Hispanic students, while fewer Anglo students were enrolled last year than 10 years ago, according to the study by the Texas Education Agency. Schools also are educating many more children whose primary language is not English.

The rapidly changing makeup of the Texas public school classroom poses growing challenges for the state. Impoverished and disadvantaged children are more likely to falter academically and drop out, and educating struggling students can be costly.

Speaking from experience if the schools would audit more of the kids on the free and reduced school lunch program they would find out that a lot of them lie on the forms. The illegals are the worst offenders! Also once they are on free and reduced lunch program then all of their band, sports and other equipment is paid for by us!

Let's put 2 + 2 together and what does the Chronicle really tell us? Our public school are being choked to death because we are being over run with illegals who have no money and speak no English.
    That's exactly right bigtex!!

All school children should be required to prove their guardians are legal residents with documented paper work. The school system required me to be the legal guardian of my niece which cost me over $250.

And no undocumented students should be allowed to be included in the high school GPA. Many American students have been displaced by illegal aliens in the college system.

I am getting the feeling that every state should be audited as far as their social programs go. There have been too many shenanigans going on amongst the employees who face the applicants. From the same country as the applicant? Free pass!

As a Texas property owner we are ask to share a larger burden of this cost each year with very little return on our dollar, once the older white property owners are gone where will the revenue source come from.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

Sale taxes on the illegal aliens? Americans will not have money.

My suggestion would be a tax on remittances.
