Mexico, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The plenary session of the Mexican Congress Permanent Commission rejects Thursday humiliations, abuses and violations of human rights and the death of immigrants in US bordering facilities.

A proposal presented by the Convergence parliamentary group also requests the participation of the Foreign Affairs Secretariat to clarify reasons in case of the death of Rosa Contreras.

Contreras, with two-month pregnancy, was to be deported to Mexico after considering convict in a not clear process of crimes against health, to which she had already served 18-month sentence at a federal prison, the Convergence text states.

Residents in those places are locked up, put in solitary confinement, lack a due process of consular notification, and have no medical services, a situation for which their human rights are violated, especially in women.

In less than a month, three illegal immigrants to the United States died in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of medical negligence.

The victims, a pregnant Mexican woman, an AIDS patient and a epileptic Brazilian citizen, increased the number of dead people in custody in the last three years to 62.

ICE spokesman Marc Raimondi said the pregnant lady died after a blood clot was detected and she was transferred to a hospital.

However, her health had deteriorated gradually in the prison of San Pedro, California, while she was waiting for deportation.

Relatives of the Brazilian citizen, who was arrested for a traffic infraction, said they implored the authorities of the Woonsocket, Rhode Island prison, to take some medications to him to control his epilepsy, but the authorities rejected their requests.

The adoption of an illegal immigrant by a US citizen is currently a new way to protect the immigrants and demand a just reform of the law, according to activists.

The initiative, launched in Los Angeles last year, was put now into practice by the Latin American International Coalition in New Jersey.

According to activists of the program, this is a way to face anti-immigrant raids ordered by the White House.

Sandra Aguilar accused the US Government of separating parents from their US-born children, thus increasing these families desperation.

The "Adopt Me" program will provide advice to undocumented immigrants about their rights in case they are arrested by immigration officials.

Coalition leaders consider these people are already part of the country's society and economy, and only need a chance to make good.

Due to government raids and new employment restrictions, many employers treat these people as slaves, program activists assert.

Immigration is looming large as one of the most burning issues in the presidential campaign for 2008.

Today, Republican presidential hopeful Rudolph Giuliani vowed to be tough on illegal immigration

Mex President Calls for Respect for Inmigrants in US

    Mexico, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina)

Mexican president, Felipe Calderon, criticized the recent suspension of debate on a migration reform in the United States congress and demanded respect for the dignity of the migrants in that country.

Calderon warned that the lack of sensitivity of US legislators in postponing the discussion of the initiative last June is a spur to strengthen the struggle for full knowledge of the support of migrants to that northern nation.

The president told the congresspersons that without the hand labor of the Mexicans it would be impossible to develop that country and, consequently, demanded acknowledgment of this truth by the George W. Bush government.

He commented that the social and economic phenomenon of migration cannot be stopped while the economies of the United States and Mexico are complementary, one intense in capital and another in hand labor.

During a visit of the president to the state of Michoacan, he sent a warm and sincere greeting to the millions of Mexican migrants in the United States who have risked their lives in search of a better future for their families, he said.

“I want to tell them that we are with them and will continue to fight,â€

Mexico has no room to talk about anybody in terms of human rights violations or abuses, how those awaiting to be deported are handled, or anything they else. They are known for their for their abuses and human rights violations and brutal treatment of those in their custody.

Well, if they don't like it, of course, they can always keep their citizenry at home.

LOL......seems he should be instructing his illegal immigrants to have RESPECT for the American citizens.

When I read stories about the health issues of like the pregnant woman.....I wonder what better chance she would have had in Mexico? They make it out like we are the worlds worst barbarians trying to enforce our laws, when they treat their own citizens worse living in horrible conditions.

"Demanded"? - Oh, I think we've heard Mexico's demands before already.

Oh yes, how about ' without the hand labor of the Mexicans it would be impossible to develop that country...' (uh, I assume Pres. Calderon is speaking of Mexico - but strangely, the article does not identify which one exactly...)
