Princeton woman awakes to being sexually assaulted by stranger

PRINCETON — A Princeton woman woke up early Wednesday to a stranger sexually assaulting her in her house, police said.

The intruder, later identified as Pedro Arias-Santiago, 26, of Princeton, was arrested outside of the woman's home in the 200 block of Birch Avenue by responding officers.

He was charged with aggravated sexual assault, burglary and theft.

The 28-year-old victim told police she was sleeping in her home when she woke up a little after midnight to find Arias-Santiago sexually assaulting her, the statement said.

Police do not believe the woman knew Arias-Santiago before the assault.

The woman ran from her house and called police, who captured Arias-Santiago just outside the house. They searched the 26-year-old and found he was carrying a few items of the woman's clothing.

Police believe Arias-Santiago got into the woman's house through an unlocked door.

Arias-Santiago is from Guatemala and living in the country illegally and federal immigration authorities were notified of his arrest, police said.

A judge later Wednesday set Arias-Santiago's bail at $200,000 and he was lodged at the to Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell Township.

A spokesperson for the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said they do not yet have a date set for Arias-Santiago's bail hearing.

A Guatemalan national, Pedro Arias-Santiago, was initially arrested minutes after midnight on June 29 after a 28-year-old woman woke up to find him sexually assaulting her in her sleep. She ran from her house on Birch Avenue in Princeton, New Jersey, and called for police, who then quickly arrested the illegal immigrant just outside the residence. During their search, police found several articles of women’s clothing in Arias-Santiago’s possession. For that incident, Arias-Santiago is charged with aggravated sexual assault, burglary, and theft.

When news of the assault was widely circulated on June 30, a 19-year-old girl from Illinois reported to police that she had been staying at the same residence on Birch Avenue when at about 5 a.m. on June 14 Arias-Santiago allegedly entered through an unlocked door. When she found him inside the home and confronted him, she said that Arias-Santiago fled. The 19-year-old did not report the incident until last week.

Twenty-six-year-old Arias-Santiago is now facing charges in both incidents. Bail has been set at $200,000. Authorities have not yet set a date for his bail hearing.

Since the man wasn't vetted at the border, no telling what sort of diseases he could be carrying and not even know about. Of course if he was a legal immigrant it wouldn't matter where AIDS is concerned because now those with AIDS are no longer stopped from legal immigration. So, not only does the poor girl have to go through the trauma of the initial rape, she also has to fear the possibility of losing her life for weeks or months to come. I realize this could happen with any rape, but it's not supposed to happen when the rapist should not have been here in the first place! Secure the border and deport ALL illegal immigrants!

Everyone thinks, "Pedro is ok, he works hard for that restaurant or lawn care company". We know nothing about every Pedro here illegally. I am sure the bulk of them may not be like this piece of dung, but there are a lot of guys here now that are just like Pedro. They are not just rapists. They are murderers. We just don't know anything until after they strike and the shame is we have enough problems with our own. No one can convince me that this illegal immigration stuff is all ok. It is not. How do we know that these South American countries don't unleash their prison populations into the border areas so they can cross into the US illegally and become our problem. While this may sound preposterous to most people who support amnesty for these people, you can't prove anything or know anything important about most of these people because:
1. We don't know who they are (11M+ of them)
2. Because we don't know who they are, we don't have any factual information regarding their past history with respect to arrests, health records and inoculations, mental disorders and anything relevant to their proper vetting that would enable us to determine if they are safe or dangerous to be free in a society like ours.

Think of how stupid this: Our government does not allow legal immigrants into our country or to be citizens if there are certain problems with their vetting. There is zero vetting with respect to illegal aliens and we just turn our back on 11 million of them and think it is ok. They are just here to work. I am sure most of them are, but for maybe 1-2% that will eventually commit serious crimes here, it is worth ascertaining who each and everyone of them is regardless of this countries paralysis with what to do with them all.

What should really scare American citizens is how ridiculously blind and naive our politicians actually are.

I know NM...but that is separate from not knowing who these people actually are or anything about their past. We are in big trouble with these criminals. I could respect every democrat and republican amnesty loving congress person (politically correct, I am an idiot sometimes) if they would just take a firm stand against the criminals (deporting them immediately) and the open border. However, that is not the case. They have turned their backs on Americans with respect to safety then jobs.

We need a very strong and organized national group that takes these issues on everyday in the cable news shows and local marches that demonstrate a large number of people concerned about illegal immigration and an informed base that knows how to influence politicians to see things our way. That is how we beat the globalists without a political leader like Sen. Sessions or presidential nominee Trump.
