A prominent anti-illegal immigration advocate is soliciting support from state lawmakers to remove House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate leader Phil Berger from power.

"I am getting more traction than I thought I would," said William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration's political action committee. "Many of the Republican lawmakers are disappointed to see them imitate their predecessors."

Gheen's problem with the top Republican legislative leaders came after a special House immigration committee delayed any action until the next legislative session.

"Speaker Thom Tillis and President (Pro Tem) Phil Berger are protecting illegal immigrants and those that employ them," Gheen said in a recent interview. "Immigration legislation is one of the issues that led to Democrats' overthrow."

Gheen leads a national advocacy group. But as a North Carolina resident, he also tries to flex his muscle at the state legislature. He said he is developing plans for a state-level PAC to help elect immigration-reformed minded lawmakers.

Gheen threatened at the committee meeting to work to defeat the top Republicans in the next election -- words neither lawmaker justified with a response. He called the committee "a cover for not taking any leadership on the issue."

Now he is taking his frustration to sympathizers within the Republican legislative caucuses. He said five of the first seven lawmakers he asked to support different leadership were "highly receptive." But he declined to say how many lawmakers he has enlisted so far.

"We are going going to be telling people all across the state and their lawmakers ... that they've got to get Phil Berger, his top men and Thom Tillis out of the way," he said.

This should get their attention in the ivory towers.

Now I need to prepare my letter to go out across the state telling the GOP movers and shakers what Tillis and Berger have been up to helping illegal aliens.

NC legislators delay action on immigration

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration, suggested that the Republican leaders would be "cowardly" not to pursue anti-illegal immigration legislation this year. He said House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate leader Phil Berger, both Republicans, should "get on board with the brave heroes" in states that have enacted new laws. If they don't, Gheen said, he and other activists will work to throw them out of office.

I am so proud to see this William. Republicans who side with big ag and all businesses that want to keep their illegal alien workforce need to be ousted no different than the Dems who get bought out in this same way. It is not fiscally reasonable to have millions of illegal alien workers in this country, who dig their heels in and have children and begin to use social services as they have, and this has been a large part of our nations debt crisis. How can someone call themselves a Republican, who normally are fiscally conservative, continue turning a blind eye to the fact that illegal aliens cost the United States of America more than they ever produce here. There are no benefits to an illegal alien workforce, period.

Go get them William, force them out, they cannot be trusted to serve the publics best interest.

My brother told me Rouzer already has a billboard out on I-40 East, and I forwarded him everything about Ilario you put up here.

I looked Thom Tillis' campaign contributions from 2010. In 2008 he raised only $43,050.00 for his campaign, in 2010 he received $397,340.00. His largest single contributor was North Carolina Farm Bureau,

Top contributors to Thom Tillis's campaign in 2010
    North Carolina Farm Bureau $11,000
North Carolina Association Of Realtors $9,000
    Nationwide $8,000
    Fennebresque, John C $8,000
    AT&T $8,000

Then there is the payday loan queen.
Group questions Tillis' links to consumer loan business

The campaign contributions came from 28 donors and two political action committees associated with the consumer finance industry that specializes in small loans for buying automobiles, household goods and personal emergencies.
The N.C. General Assembly regulates the fees and interest rates that loan companies charge customers.
Democracy North Carolina says its analysis shows six lending-industry donors were still unidentified or had incomplete information on Tillis' new report -- including Gail Blanton, a veteran finance company official who hosted a fundraising event for Tillis last October in Greenville.
Blanton is the chief executive officer of Time Investment Corporation, which owns a chain of small loan offices based in Greenville.
She was identified twice on the Tillis report as a "homemaker" -- once for the $1,562.42 she donated for the fundraising event's expenses and once for her contribution of $2,000.
The campaign disclosure report shows the event brought in more than $30,000 for the Tillis campaign.

June 1-2, 2011Legislation to Increase Charges on Small Loans Follows Surge in Contributions from Consumer Finance Industry

During the last election, donors with consumer finance companies gave most of their campaign contributions to Democratic legislators until late August 2010, when they suddenly switched and began pouring more than $100,000 into the campaigns of 15 Republican newcomers challenging Democrats in hot races, as well as the top three Republican leaders in the General Assembly.
Consumer finance executives and their PACs donated $65,600 to 15 Republican legislative candidates in highly contested races, including 12 held by Democrats and three open seats. Only 3 of the 134 donations to these 15 candidates were made before the middle of August 2010

In addition, these donors made 47 contributions totaling $45,450 to the soon-to-be Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger, House Speaker Thom Tillis and House Majority Leader Paul Stam. All but 2 of the contributions were made after mid-August.

I have heard that illegals use the payday loan places a lot. Does that company do wire transfers for a fee? I couldn't really determine if they did with online searches, just that they don't do a credit check which means they don't check Id very well.
