Public Support Strong for New Immigration Enforcement
New Rasmussen Poll:
Public Support Strong for New Immigration Enforcement

Seventy-nine percent (79%) of American adults favor a proposal requiring employers to fire workers who falsify identity documents. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 9% are opposed while 12% are not sure.
The survey was conducted as the Bush Administration announced a series of proposals designed to crack down on illegal immigration. One proposal would require companies to fire workers if proper documents are not provided by the employee within 90 days. While this proposal has upset some immigrant-rights leaders, most Americans would like to go even further—74% believe that if a person wants to rent an apartment they should be required to provide documents proving they are in the country legally. Just 17% are opposed.
Earlier this year, the Senate finally bowed to public pressure and rejected a “comprehensiveâ€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I agree also. It is the 'new' part that bothers me. Why did we need 'new' rules?

The Constitution is what we should be following. Coming across the border is against the law. Anyone that looks illegal should be picked up. One rule we are missing here is Anchor Baby reform. I am thinking that the government feels that a lot of Mexicans that have been born here even after being born from illegals is going to help with our workforce. According to law we can't kick these people out. We need to change this.

Makes me wonder how many illegals will go and try having more Anchor Baby's because of that law? Wonder if there will be a noticable increase over the next few years? Another swamp in health care.( STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT EMPLOYMENT - BOYCOTT FIELDALE FARMS, PILGRIMS PRIDE & TYSON POULTRY )

ALIPAC NOTE: Beware of contradictory polls or polls that slip in the false claim that a majority of Americans support allowing illegal aliens to stay in the US. This defies common sense. Why would close to 80% of Americans support fines against employers, removal of taxpayer benefits to illegals, local police enforcing immigration law, and more border security only to turn around and nullify such efforts by allowing illegal immigrants to stay?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Also, it is actually Executive branch rules which give anchor babies US Citizenship, it is not a law or Supreme Court decision. In other words Bush could stop giving them citizenship if he wanted to simply by changing this rule, just like he is going after the employers of illegal aliens by changing the SSN no match rule.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I don't for one moment believe this President is 'going after' anyone - except perhaps law abiding citizens.
Leopards don't change their spots and these people are stinging that we had the audacity to actually stand up and try to do something about the amnesty. They are angry, determined, and their tactics won't be the same.
For 30 years, Americans have been swallowing the garbage the news media and politicians put out - or at least not challenging it in a concerted effort. They thought they could get this amnesty by us the same way - we fooled them.
They won't try that again. Whatever they do - will be done in the dark, behind our backs, and it will not be to our liking.
The 'new' enforcement is just a sham - pure and simple. The only good thing it is doing is keeping the debate in public view for all those who might get tired of thinking about this.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I agree with nntrixie. Something doesn't ring true here. Bush has a hidden agenda, and I'm bracing myself for what that is.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

It could very well be that there are some charges that are going to be made. It also could be that the Republicans are fearing that Bush is ruining their party. With Rove leaving it could be Bush is giving up on fighting anything but the war. It could be that our economy can't support two nations. Iraq and Mexico and one has got to go. Maybe he has decided which one has got to go.
