I fear as long as our government continues to push the broken public school system, theis will always be an issue.

I thought the needy in this country received food stamps. Why would free breakfast at schools even be necessary unless a parent is neglecting their children? And if they are neglecting their children (which is criminal) why reward them with another benefit? Fix the problem don't just throw more money at the situation.

I hate to see children go hungry too but there has to be a limit on how much parents can free load off of the system. Somehow we need to hold them accountable for their own families.

A few years ago they started day care after school here. So now the kids can go to school at 7:15 or 7:30 and eat free breakfast, get their free schooling and then have free lunch and then have a free after school snack and then go home from school day care at 6 p.m. The next thing that will happen is we will be feeding the kids dinner or supper(depending on what you call it) to the kids as poor mom and dad have to work late. What ever happened to taking care of and being responsible for your kids?

If you are going to be a parent you have to be one and not depend on Uncle Sam to take care of your kids for you!

Even when we struggle financially, we always make sure the kiddies are fed, and we have three.
I actually did some research on this a while back. Not only does the school get it's money, they actually make a profit off of the free and reduced lunch program. That is why they push the program so hard. I don't want to see any kids hungry either but come on, how much does couple of boxes of pop tarts cost??
I didn't know the schools made money off this program. Figures! Follow the money again and again and again....

Schools also make money off of migrants. Did you ever wonder why they need a migrant recruiter? The more migrant children, which doesn't necessarily mean legal citizens, the more money the schools receive. Migrant children also get free lunch no matter how much money their parents make-at least it's that way in Nebraska.

I say let the Catholic Church put their money where their mouth is and subsidize these "free" meals.
This is a wonderful idea.If the Catholic Church advocates illegal immigration, they need to be responsible for it financially. I think that there are very few people who live in the United States that are actually starving. A piece of fruit is cheap and easy, and depending on where you live, is also free for the taking. Programs like this only encourage more people to participate. Freebies should be on a case by case basis and should be handled privately, not advertised.
