SAN YSIDRO – A Tijuana man was arrested at the port of entry Tuesday with 45 pounds of methamphetamine worth nearly $1 million, according to Customs and Border Protection officials.

The 24-year-old man, who seemed nervous, tried to enter the country from Mexico around 9:30 a.m in a Ford Explorer. Officials conducted a more detailed inspection of the SUV and said they found the drugs hidden in the front fenders and engine compartment.

Nearly 137,000 pounds of narcotics were seized at the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports of entry from October to February, officials said.
