Jindal: Protests show disrespect

Rep. Bobby Jindal feels the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants taking part in demonstrations across the country today are showing their lack of respect for the country they want to become citizens of.
The congressman from Louisiana's First District feels their willingness "to walk in front of television cameras while they are in this country illegally shows their disdain for our government."
The Republican from New Orleans sits on the House Homeland Security Committee. He said the "catch and release" program now in place is obviously not working.
"In the 1980s, we offered amnesty to 3 million illegal immigrants and it was said we'd never have to do this again," Jindal said earlier today. "We now have 11 million illegal immigrants in our country with 500,000 more coming each year. We have to do a better job of protecting our borders against the flood of immigrants."
And if the problem with the flood of illegal immigrants coming into the country weren't enough, Jindal said it's the things they could bring with them that should cause the greatest concern.
"We see how easy it is now for people to bring drugs into our country. With the threat of terrorism as great as it is today, someone could bring some biological weapon across the border," Jindal said. "There are other weapons that could be brought into the United States and used against our citizens, and we should take every step possible to prevent that."
Jindal advocates strengthening border security as the greatest way to limit that threat.
"It's apparent the catch and release program we're using now is not working," Jindal said.
During earlier protests by illegal immigrants, marchers were carrying flags of Mexico and other countries from which they'd come. The recent protests in France by young people -- many of whom were also illegal immigrants -- also illustrates what Jindal feels is a disdain today's immigrants have for the countries where they are seeking to establish residence.
"It used to be that people from all over the world came to American and learned our language and adopted our values. You don't see that here and in other places around the world today," Jindal said. "They come here to enjoy the benefits of United States citizenship but don't worry about conforming to the things we, as Americans, feel are important."Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn
